The Best Military Travel Discounts

Updated Jun 17, 2026 · 7 min read

Travel is where the military discount is strongest — service members, veterans, and often their families save on hotels, flights, rental cars, and attractions. Here's where the savings are biggest and how to stack them.

Where you save the most

  • Hotels — most major chains offer a military/government rate; it often beats the public rate and is refundable.
  • Rental cars — military discount codes routinely cut 10–25% and waive young-driver and extra-driver fees.
  • Flights — several airlines waive baggage fees for active duty (sometimes on personal travel), and offer military fares.
  • Theme parks & attractions — Disney, Universal, and many parks run discounted military tickets; some are deeply discounted.
  • National & state parks — the free military annual pass covers entrance fees (see our Free Stuff guide).

How to stack the savings

Book direct (not third-party) so the military rate applies, verify once with ID.me or your .mil email, travel off-peak, and compare the military rate against current promos — take whichever is lower.
